SUMMER ANNOUNCED

Summer announced the heavens wept

joy or sorrow is anybody's guess

the parched earth was probably glad

as were children enjoying the puddles

riders caught drenched to the bone

beachside vendors rushing home

their precious cargo fast protected

fashionable plastic under plastic

Those with wisdom of the past

wept for other reasons; a change of seasons

the tepid air would soon turn scorching

so enjoy rainsoak while it lasts
