CANDY FLOSS DREAMS (a sonnet exercise)
Disturbed was I in pensive mood this morn
pacing the terraced floor with furrowed brow
Imaginary thoughts through unrest born
had invaded my privacy somehow
Unspoken burdens from unseen shadows
in a field of kaleidoscopic doubt
played inside my throat in between swallows
drying emptiness within and without
And then felt I the most gentle whisper
spoken by a voice from the clouds above
It turned my eyes to gaze up in wonder
And coursed through I a delightful shiver
Lo nature's display of pockets of love
My Candy floss dreams alive in splendour
