THE TRANSIENT PERMANENCE

The music in the background

lilting, uplifting at times

sombre, sorrowful sometimes

adds another dimension

to this magnificent illusion

called life

The stars above

arrayed as polka dots

wink in spots

like lights in low voltage

over a dimly lit stage

dubbed life

We are given, free to use

the elements of nature

with no legislature

random rules instruct

yet we self destruct

this life 

While with quiet grace

Time marches on unmindful

of the movement of blind fools

spinning in purposeless turbulence

awestruck by the transient permanence

of life
