WATCHING SHEIKH RASHID ROAD
We march like ants, regimented
On wheels for legs
Foraging, in serial order,
following digital crumbs
We march like ants, industrious
Stuffing shopping carts
From start till end of day
with humanity's meagre pickings
We march like ants, laborious
Leaving homes in foreign lands
to build homes of steel in sand
Braving all oppression
We march like ants, duty-bound
Life's clock ticking faster
Hoarding for unseen winter
Until swallowed by twilight
