SNOW MOON
The moon shone bright
brighter than had ever been
brighter than had ever seen
As if given a chance, an opportunity
to free the Earth from the captive dark
It smiled expansively, its visage radiant
Knowing there was none to challenge
None in that vast surrounding inkiness
The crowded heaven of celestial orbs
Some stationary, Some running
Some winking from afar with last gasps
To fill in the blanks with morse code
Blips of energy on a black canvas
No, the moon had confidence
that none would surpass it tonight
No stars' twinkle would ever match
the desire to wax eloquently such
The Earth however was shy
Introspective under the resplendent sheen
so it turned away, ever so slowly
Causing light to move from zenith to horizon
And in that slightest circumlocution
it opened an avenue for another
The twin brother who waited
patiently outside the threshold
Entry permitted a sliver but enough
Eastern doors parted for but a beam
Deep violet watercolour, flames of orange
Started ascending as the Moon watched
Snow White from the west
against emerging red from the east
Spectators there were few but mute
For the spectacle before us stayed our tongue
And as the eastern colour spread like tentacles
The moon grew quiet and distracted
And before it was consumed by the rage from below
A movement westward it did, towards another canvas
A greeted howl erupted from where they waited
Lupine companionship delighted by the arrival
of a friend whose glow shone like the snow
