STRANGERS IN THE LIGHT

When you look into a strangers eyes
explore beneath the mask, the disguise
Curtained by wishes strung on a line
Fluttering above the glittering shrine

It’s no surprise, the constriction within
Evolving silly grin, caught in an eternal spin
The room revolving, earth swallowing
Until head is rooted by identical twin

Turning on and off a magnetic switch
Fuelling blush and the tremulous twitch
Of quivering lip captured forever
Between snippets of conversation clever

When looked upon by a strangers eyes
That penetrates like an ocean sunrise
Sparking intrigue hidden inside secret bliss
Unspoken words swirl in the mist

That stay and bloom in lyrical prose
Branching, expanding, a wild rose
Hiding quiet charm within its blossom
Unexplored beneath the fount of wisdom

The fire of companionship exciting
Sailing on the memory of orbis striking
Aflame like a torch of freedom at midnight
That perpetuates even when out of sight

Stepping from the tried and tested
for that sparkle, the flicker in eyes that glitter
Strange is the connection drawn from a glance
That strangers give when they meet by chance
