BITTER LIES THE TRUTH
If truth was like butter, easily spread
With a knife or spoon on a slice of bread
Would every lie thicken, unsweeten the paste ?
Spoil the jam, Corrupt the taste
The white, the black and even the gray
Would it save your life even just for a day ?
And stripping the layers with eyes of a sleuth
Is that what they call The Bitter truth ?
If lies were like clothes that one could wear
Suiting the climate adverse or fair
Would a single truth spoken darken the cloak?
Unravel the fabric with one master stroke
Undo the needle point carefully sewn
Would it bare the darkness of your unknown ?
And if a sugary word could bandage apply
Is that what they call The Sweet lie ?
- words that disturbed sleep at 4am on a Friday morning...don't ask why
