ROLLING WHITE

When I looked up this morning there was a sea of white
And through it peeked a shaft, a streak, a beam of quiet light
It grew wider as I stared in captivated pause
Wonderstruck in awe of the sun's majestic cause
It cleared a pathway through the white and colours broke free
Deep violets outlining Puce halo's around the blue gum tree
Then marched the Reds, Deep, Supreme, Cardinal and Sanguine
Swirling Oranges that tumbled after The Carrot and The Tangerine
It bathed the earth below with an effervescent sheen
And Flowers of various hues awoke in the sea of forest green
And just as I beheld this magnificent revelation
the sea of mist crept back advancing without hesitation
The day went grey with the dying light
As the Sun gave way to the Rolling White
