2017 THE COLORFUL GOD

The colours of the almighty are like infinity

One for every reason, cause or superstition

Aids in identity, despite being arbitrary

spawns steadfastness and generates devotion

colors to boost popularity

colors for angst and animosity

colors that influence decision

colors that promote derision

Black: An anorak of anonymity

White: The shroud of poverty

Saffron : A tryst with philosophy

Red: The robe of meditation

Green: A clarion call to devotion

Yellow: The road to reformation

But here's the question on my mind

Do they know that God is colour blind?

He is a God of Darkness

In the dark hidden sanctuaries 

where no light enters he dwells

empty spaces in Temples after festivities

in Churches after celebrations

in Mosques after prayers

in Gurudwaras after langar

in Synagogues after passover

when everyone has gone 

and the place lies deserted

There lies God until driven out again

by processions and chanting

screaming and shouting

Delirious blind belief

connecting a destitute divinity 

with a supernatural vision 

a divinity with man made zest 

that prefers peaceful cosmic rest
